PLC Controls Engineer

Position Brief
• PLC Controls engineer /Engineering Department
• FT /Part-time / Contract Position: 20-40hrs per week / On-site M-F / Greensboro, NC.
• Safe, Clean, and Dust Free Work Environment
• Salary Range: Negotiable and will be based on experience


Qualifications
• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Science is preferred; however, a combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
• Proficiency with Mitsubishi IQ-R series PLC is MUST.
• Knowledge of the PLC programing: GX Works 3, Mitsubishi (the latest version) is required.
• Knowledge of the HMI (Human Machine Interface, control panel): GT Designer 3, Mitsubishi is required.
• Allen Bradley, Siemens PLC experience is a plus.
• Experience with complex control systems, sensors, operator interface programming and data collection systems is required.
• In-depth knowledge of the design and development of industrial machinery and components. (Machine parts design / modification/ vendor management)
• Able to use engineering tools, methods and machine knowledge to create, modify, re-design machine assembly drawings and part details.
• Commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Problem-solving skills are highly required.
• Team player and able to adjust to the demands of an Agile Development Environment.

 

Roles & Responsibilities
• A high level of PLC competency is required, including programming and troubleshooting with ladder logic to achieve machine control and manipulate process data.
• Mitsubishi Q-series experience is optimal, although other PLC brand experiences will be considered.
• The job duties include but are not limited to: Troubleshooting and manufacturing equipment.
• Process data collection and reporting Supporting the production and maintenance departments with equipment up time Enhancements/modifications.
• Recommending automation suppliers and equipment for improvement projects Reducing maintenance costs and improving plant safety
• Maintain projects using AutoCAD (2D & 3D), including layers, or SolidWorks 2D/3D, drawing to scale, and adding dimensions.
• Design, assemble, program, and prove-out prototype electro-mechanical equipment and components to validate future projects and processes.
• Interface with the Technical Staff daily to discuss current and future projects for updates.
• Be able to use engineering methods and machine knowledge to create, modify, and redesign machine assembly drawings and part details.
• Read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Design, read, and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
• Possess skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAD, databases, and spreadsheets.
• Write routine reports and correspondence.
